Love on the Mountain: How Amy and Andrew Keep Their Marriage Sparkling
After nearly nine years of marriage, Good Morning America coanchor Amy Robach and her husband, actor Andrew Shue, have proven that keeping the romance alive is not just a dream—it’s a reality. In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Amy, 45, opened up about her husband’s romantic side. “Andrew is the heart and soul of our romance,” she shared. The couple, who met on the set of Melrose Place back in the '90s, have been through thick and thin together, and Andrew, now 51, continues to sweep Amy off her feet.
Mount Kilimanjaro and a Cancerversary Celebration
But just how romantic is Andrew? In October 2018, he took Amy all the way to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro to celebrate her five-year “cancerversary.” This special day marks the anniversary of Amy's breast cancer diagnosis in 2013—a battle she bravely fought and won. “He surprised me with this stunning tanzanite ring, a beautiful blue stone that’s only found in the foothills of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania,” Amy reminisced with Closer at the WebMD Health Hero Awards in New York City on January 15. “He even got down on one knee! Can you believe it? Now it’s my turn to come up with something special for him,” she joked.

Romance in the Mundane: Balancing Acts in Marriage
Though Andrew may have the spotlight when it comes to grand romantic gestures, Amy is no slouch when it comes to keeping their bond strong. “I keep the house clean, get groceries, and handle all the little things that don’t seem romantic but truly are,” she told Closer. It’s these small, everyday acts of kindness that help keep the spark alive, even amidst the chaos of raising five kids and juggling demanding careers. Amy attributes their relationship success to a lot of hard work. “We both understand that relationships take effort. Life can get tough, especially with our busy schedules and blended family dynamics, but we’re committed to making it work,” she explained.
When asked about the secret to their long-lasting relationship, Amy admitted, “We’ve been through so much together, from passion and respect to challenges and hard times. But we’ve always been willing to put in the work. We’ve gone to couples therapy multiple times, and it’s been a game-changer for us. We’re not afraid to ask for help when we need it, and that’s been a huge part of our success.”
A Future Full of Love and Laughter
Amy and Andrew’s love story is one of passion, perseverance, and mutual respect. Whether it’s climbing mountains or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home with the kids, this couple knows how to make every moment count. As Amy puts it, “We’re in this for the long haul, and we couldn’t be happier about it.”
