When it comes to family, Hollywood power couple Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have it all—three amazing children and a love story that’s the envy of many. But in a candid moment on the February 5 episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan, the ever-charismatic 48-year-old TV host revealed something surprising: she wishes she and her husband, Mark, had expanded their family even further. Speaking with her cohost, Ryan Seacrest, Kelly admitted, “I am regretful that we didn’t have more kids. There are so many reasons why we didn’t, but looking back, I wish we had added one more to the mix.”
Why Kelly Feels Regret About Family Size
Kelly went on to explain the complexities that come with raising a family. “When they’re little, there’s always this dynamic—triangulation, we call it,” she said. “It’s this unavoidable thing where two kids naturally team up against the third. It’s just how it goes when you have three. But that wasn’t the only reason. I just loved having them around. Watching them grow into these incredible adults has been such a joy, but I miss the little things—their tiny voices, the funny things they’d say. It was magical.”

For Kelly, the memories of her children’s younger years are bittersweet. “As they’ve grown older, I’ve realized how much I miss those days. They were so sweet, so full of wonder. And now, as much as I adore them as adults, I can’t help but wish we’d had one more little person to add to the mix. Life moves so fast, and before you know it, they’re all grown up,” she reflected.
Family Life with Kelly and Mark
Kelly and Mark, who celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary in 2019, have built an incredible life together. Their family includes three children: Michael Consuelos, 21, Lola Consuelos, 17, and Joaquin Consuelos, 15. Despite their busy schedules, they’ve always prioritized family time, creating a home filled with love and laughter. Kelly’s heartfelt confession about wanting another child came just as her close friend, Andy Cohen, welcomed his first child, Benjamin Allen Cohen, via surrogate.

Congratulations to Andy Cohen
As Kelly shared her feelings about family, she also took a moment to celebrate her dear friend Andy Cohen, who became a dad for the first time. Andy welcomed his son, Benjamin Allen Cohen, via surrogate on February 4. In a touching Instagram post, Andy wrote, “WOW! This is my son, Benjamin Allen Cohen. He is 9 lbs, 2 ounces!! 20 inches!! Born at 6:35 pm PT. He is named after my grandfather Ben Allen. I’m in love. And speechless. And eternally grateful to an incredible surrogate. And I’m a dad. Wow.”
