“The next morning when the car got there [to take him to the airport], he wouldn’t get in,” one friend shared. “Later, Meg heard he had a heart attack and she was relentless in her efforts to reach him, even up to the night before the wedding. She was saying, ‘Please pick up. I love you, and I’m scared.’ It was endless,” the friend recounted. The stress of the situation must have been overwhelming for Meghan, adding an extra layer of heartache to what should have been a joyful occasion.
After the Wedding
Despite missing out on having her father present at one of the most significant days of her life, Meghan still made a sincere effort to mend their relationship. “After the wedding, she wrote him a heartfelt letter. She expressed, ‘Dad, I’m so heartbroken. I love you. I have one father. Please stop using the media to victimize me so we can repair our relationship,’” her friend revealed.
Unfortunately, the response she received was less than ideal. “He writes her a really long letter in return, and he closes it by requesting a photo op with her. And she feels like, ‘That’s the opposite of what I’m saying. I’m telling you I don’t want to communicate through the media, and you’re asking me to communicate through the media.
