Carrie Ann Inaba is no stranger to taking on new roles, but could her next role be as a mom? The 51-year-old powerhouse has already added a new job to her impressive resume this year—taking over for Julie Chen as co-host on CBS’s The Talk. But now, she's revealing her thoughts on expanding her family by adopting a child.
Thinking About Motherhood
In a recent sit-down with People, Carrie Ann opened up about her desire to become a mom. Known for her vibrant energy and passion on shows like Dancing With the Stars, she's now considering one of the biggest decisions of her life. "I would love to be a mom," Carrie Ann shared candidly. "I do still consider adopting. I have even thought about fostering to adopt." Despite her enthusiasm, she acknowledges the challenges of potentially becoming a single parent. "As a single woman in her 50s, I want to make sure that I will have the energy and that it’s fair to the child," she admitted.
Getting Inspired to Take the Next Step
Carrie Ann mentioned that the movie Instant Family has inspired her to take action. "I saw the movie Instant Family and I’m probably going to take one of those [foster parenting] classes," she said. "It’s on my list!" Her determination to explore this path shows her commitment to making an informed decision. She's not rushing into anything but is taking the necessary steps to ensure she's ready for such a life-changing experience.

Putting Herself First
While Carrie Ann is focused on the possibility of motherhood, she also revealed that her dating life isn't a priority right now. "This is the longest I’ve ever been single," she explained. "I’ve always gone from relationship to relationship." Carrie Ann ended her engagement to actor Robb Derringer in 2017 and previously called off her engagement to Jesse Sloan in 2012 after a year together. "Maybe I was afraid of being single," she admitted. "But I realized that I have to go right towards what scares me the most." For Carrie Ann, this means focusing on herself and her personal growth.
Embracing a New Chapter
Despite past relationships, Carrie Ann remains positive about her life choices. "Sometimes people look at me sadly, like, 'You poor thing,' but it’s not that way at all," she said. "I was engaged to wonderful men. They just weren’t right for me." She feels she's in the best place she's ever been, both personally and professionally. "I’m the happiest I’ve ever been," she shared. "I’m really just focused on myself. And it’s like a peace I’ve never known before." With her newfound clarity and purpose, it seems like big things are on the horizon for Carrie Ann in 2019!
