Just a few months back, Diane Kruger and her boyfriend, Norman Reedus, welcomed their first child together—a beautiful baby girl. In a candid conversation with digital magazine PorterEdit, the German actress revealed that at one point in her life, she stayed away from the idea of motherhood because she felt too “selfish.”
Learning to Embrace Motherhood at the Right Time
The 42-year-old star of National Treasure recently opened up about her journey to motherhood. “You know, as you grow older, you start realizing that things come to you when you're ready for them,” she shared. “And honestly, I’m so glad I waited to have a baby.” Diane went on to explain that motherhood wasn’t always on her radar. “I was too focused on myself, my career, my own life. But by the time I hit my mid-30s, I started thinking, yeah, I probably do want a child. Of course, you also have to wait for the right person to come along,” she added. Thankfully, Norman Reedus entered her life, and the rest is history.

Norman Reedus: A Calming Influence in Parenthood
Diane and Norman, the 50-year-old star of The Walking Dead, have been together since 2016. Before Diane, Norman had a son, Mingus Reedus, 19, with his ex-partner, Helena Christensen. During her interview with PorterEdit, Diane also praised Norman’s experience as a father, which she believes has been invaluable to her as a new mom. “Norman is incredibly calm, and he’s taught me so much because he’s already been through this before,” she explained. “There’s definitely something special about being with someone who’s doing this for the second time. It makes things a lot smoother.”

Marriage: Is It in the Cards for Diane and Norman?
While Diane and Norman seem content with their growing family, marriage isn’t completely off the table. “You know, never say never when it comes to marriage,” Diane said with a smile. “If it happens, I’d definitely throw a party and wear a beautiful dress. But let’s be real—I’m not religious, so that aspect of marriage doesn’t really resonate with me.” She continued, “There’s certainly a financial security that comes with marriage, but I’m financially independent. I don’t need anyone for that.”
Only time will tell if Diane and Norman decide to take the next step and tie the knot, but for now, they seem perfectly happy with their small, loving family.
