It’s been nearly two years since TV personality Maria Menounos underwent life-changing surgery to remove a brain tumor. Instead of dwelling on the challenges she faced during that period, Maria has shifted her focus to a new and exciting chapter in her life. In a recent interview with Closer Weekly, available now on newsstands, the 40-year-old revealed that she's ready to embrace motherhood. “This is definitely the year,” she said, expressing her desire to start a family with her husband, Keven Undergaro.

Maria, who celebrated her first wedding anniversary with Keven on New Year’s Eve, joked about their plans for expanding their family. “We kind of want to have twins and just get it over with,” she quipped. While the idea of twins might sound ambitious, she added with a laugh, “But we’ll see.” Her sense of humor and optimism shine through as she looks forward to this next phase of life.

Maria's journey to motherhood is deeply tied to the perspective she gained after her surgery. “I realized that my health has to be first and that life is really short,” she confessed. This revelation has shifted her priorities, allowing her to focus on the things that truly matter. “So many things have changed—just my perspective on what I will and won’t do. I really want to pursue the things that I feel passionately about,” she explained.

Maria also shared that her mother, who also battled a brain tumor, is doing exceptionally well. “She’s doing amazing, thank God,” Maria said with gratitude. Reflecting on her own health, she added, “My health is great.” For Maria, expanding her family would not only bring joy but also reinforce the bonds she treasures most. “I’m trying to enjoy time with friends and family more,” she said, acknowledging how career-driven she once was. “It’s such a big deal to put away the phone. Now every day is just a blessing.”

    Embracing Life's Lessons

Maria views her experience with the brain tumor as a transformative event that has shaped her outlook. “Would you believe me if I told you that the brain tumor is the best thing that ever happened to me?” she shared in a previous interview with Women’s Health. “It’s freed me from all of that anxiety of having to be perfect. You can’t control everything; leave it to God and just say, ‘Okay, this is my journey.’”
