A Fresh Start for TODAY's Third Hour

As we welcome the new year, the TODAY show is stepping into a fresh chapter with a new lineup of co-hosts taking over the third hour. Megyn Kelly's departure in October left a void, but the team is ready to fill it with familiar faces. On January 7th, the popular morning show introduced Dylan Dreyer, Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Sheinelle Jones as the new hosts of the 9 a.m. hour. Dylan Dreyer shared her excitement on Twitter, saying, "Hope you don’t mind these faces! You’ll be seeing a lot of them at 9am. Please join us!" This new team is set to bring a renewed energy to the show, promising engaging content and lively discussions.

Building on TODAY's Legacy

Since Megyn Kelly's departure, the TODAY show has relied on a rotating cast of familiar faces to keep the third hour lively. Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Hoda Kotb have been instrumental in maintaining the show's momentum, with Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones making frequent appearances. At the start of the morning program in late October, Hoda Kotb addressed the audience, saying, "Today, as you know, we are starting a new chapter in the third hour of our show. As it evolves, we want you to know that the entire TODAY family will continue to bring you informative and important stories just as we always have." This commitment to quality content ensures that the TODAY show remains a trusted source of information and entertainment.

Megyn Kelly Reflects on Her Journey

Megyn Kelly faced significant backlash following controversial comments made on-air. In an effort to address the situation, she issued a heartfelt apology, saying, "I want to begin with two words: I’m sorry. You may have heard that yesterday we had a conversation about political correctness and Halloween costumes… I defended the idea (of blackface), saying that as long it was respectful and part of a Halloween costume, that it seemed OK. Well, I was wrong, and I am sorry." Despite her apology, it wasn't enough to secure the return of Megyn Kelly Today. Megyn continued, "I have never been a PC kind of person, but I've learned that it is not OK for blackface to be part of any costume, Halloween or otherwise. This past year has been so painful for many people of color. The country feels so divided, and I have no wish to add to that pain and offense. I believe this is a time for more understanding, more love, more sensitivity and honor, and I want to be part of that. Thank you for listening and for helping me listen too." While her time on TODAY may be over, Megyn hinted at a possible return to television, saying, "You'll be seeing me."
