It’s been just over four months since Joanna Gaines and Chip Gaines welcomed their fifth child, Crew, into their family. And guess what? The Fixer Upper power couple isn’t ruling out the possibility of baby number six. In a candid chat with People, Chip opened up about the idea. “I think we have to have another one because I’m particular about the only child thing,” Chip said. “Crew needs a sister to manage this whole thing. Don’t be surprised if baby number six is in the cards!”
From Surprise Pregnancy to Growing the Family
Joanna, 40, and Chip, 43, are already parents to four kids: Drake, 13, Ella, 12, Duke, 9, and Emmie, 8. The couple didn’t exactly plan for Crew, and there’s a noticeable age gap between him and his older siblings. Back in May, Joanna admitted to People that getting pregnant with Crew was a total surprise — but the best kind. “I had been feeling a little emotional and crazy and thought, ‘Wow, this isn’t me,’” Joanna revealed. “Then all of a sudden I realized, ‘Hey, I remember this.’ When I saw the results of the test, my jaw dropped. Chip was in the driveway about to leave when I called him back and said, ‘We’re pregnant!’ He was so excited. We’re both just so excited.”

The Gaines Family's Excitement Over Baby Crew
Joanna told Life & Style that the best part of the whole experience was how excited her four older kids were about the new addition. “The best thing about all of this is the excitement that my kids have shown for their new baby brother,” Joanna said. The joy of having a fifth child brought back some of the sweetest memories of being pregnant and giving birth. While the couple is open to the idea of baby number six, Joanna does have some reservations. In her fall issue of The Magnolia Journal, she admitted that carrying Crew was much harder than her previous pregnancies.

“I am 40, and pregnancy this time was different,” Joanna admitted. “I have always really enjoyed being pregnant — I tend to feel my best during those nine months. This time I felt a little more worn out than usual.” Despite the challenges, Joanna has been feeling incredibly blessed since welcoming Crew in June. That’s why we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of another little one joining the family. “That’s what I love about life. It’s these surprises, and at first, you sit there and go, ‘How does that fit?’ And now that it’s all happened, I can’t imagine life any other way. I’ve never been so happy.”
