As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry eagerly await the arrival of their first child in spring 2019, excitement is building within the royal family. One person who’s particularly thrilled about the upcoming bundle of joy is Doria Ragland, Meghan's mom. According to recent reports, Meghan, now 37, is hoping her 62-year-old mother will leave behind her sunny California life to join her and Harry in the UK once the royal baby arrives next year.
“Meghan, of course, wants her mom to move to the UK,” a royal insider revealed to Us Weekly. Doria, a social worker currently residing in Los Angeles, is reportedly planning to spend plenty of time with her daughter and grandchild, though she isn’t ready to fully commit to a permanent move just yet. “Doria hasn’t made any firm decisions about relocating,” the source clarified. “She has mentioned to friends that she intends to keep her house in Los Angeles but is definitely planning to spend a significant amount of time with Meghan.”
Making Space for Doria

Accommodating Doria’s potential move to the UK could be seamless, considering Meghan and Harry are leaving their cozy Kensington Palace residence for a much larger home in the countryside. On November 24, Kensington Palace announced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be relocating from their current Nottingham Cottage in London to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will move to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate early next year as they prepare for the arrival of their first child. The couple has been living at Nottingham Cottage since their engagement last year,” a statement obtained by People explained.
A Bigger Home for a Growing Family
Choosing to move to the countryside is a practical decision with a baby on the way, especially since their current home at Kensington Palace has only two bedrooms. In contrast, Frogmore Cottage boasts ten bedrooms, offering plenty of space for Doria to visit or even stay long-term if she decides to make the move. Situated on the expansive grounds of Windsor Castle, this new home holds special significance for Meghan and Harry, as it was where they exchanged vows in May.
