During her time on Full House, actress Candace Cameron Bure played DJ Tanner, the dependable older sister with golden locks and a charming boyfriend. But behind the scenes, she was battling personal struggles that few knew about. In her 2011 memoir, Reshaping It All: Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness, Candace revealed that she fought bulimia in her early 20s. Fast forward to 2016, when she returned with Fuller House, Candace was glowing with happiness and health. She even told People, "I feel the most fit and strong that I’ve ever felt in my life." So, how did this beloved actress find her perfect balance?

How Candace Cameron Bure Transformed Her Lifestyle
Candace, now 42, opened up to Cosmopolitan about her journey after having three children. She shared the details of her fitness routine and diet that works for her body. Her meals typically consist of fruits and vegetables, quinoa, hummus, and soups. Although she doesn’t have any allergies to lactose or gluten, she avoids dairy, refined sugars, and white flour, explaining, "they’re not good for you." Despite her dedication to clean eating, Candace does indulge occasionally. "I don’t eat dairy regularly, but many baked goods contain butter or milk," she admits. "To say I never have dessert would be a complete lie."

Her Fitness Routine: A Balanced Approach
Candace breaks a sweat several times a week and ensures she fuels her body with whole grains or carbs before a workout. Post-workout, she sips on a protein shake to replenish her energy. Her exercise routine is diverse, meaning she might go for a run one day and do strength training or a Pilates class the next. When time allows, she spends an hour working out alongside her trainer, Kira Stokes.

Facing Hollywood's Pressure
While Candace is proud of her reflection in the mirror, she admits that working in Hollywood can still bring insecurities to the surface. "You have all eyes on you at all times, so anyone who says there isn’t some form of pressure, for both men and women, to always look your best, would be lying to you," she explains. "If anyone follows my Instagram, they know how much I enjoy working out because I post about it all the time. It’s not like my character DJ or any of the parts in my Hallmark movies or mystery series require me to have a lean, fit body. I just really enjoy fitness because it’s a personal choice, not because I have to look a certain way for my characters." Amen to that!
