York's Journey into the World

York wasn’t just a surprise to Tyra; he was a long-awaited dream come true. Born in January 2016 through a surrogate, York came into the world after Tyra and her then-boyfriend Erik Asla worked tirelessly and prayed for this moment. In a heartfelt post announcing York’s arrival, Tyra wrote, “The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here. He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin.” She expressed immense gratitude to the surrogate, calling her an "angel," and extended her prayers to others struggling with similar journeys. Unfortunately, Tyra and Erik parted ways in October after five years, but Tyra remains dedicated to raising York with love and wisdom.

Teaching York the Value of Hard Work

Tyra has always been a beacon of hard work, and she wants to instill that same value in her son. Speaking to E! News, she explained, “I am a very hardworking momma and hopefully a good example to my son that you know momma works really, really hard and that’s how we have these things and we can travel and get on airplane, airplane, airplane, to go and see the world.” It’s not just about working hard, though. Tyra often brings York along to her engagements, giving him a front-row seat to her world. She wants him to understand her life and the efforts behind it. “But at the same time with my hard work my son often comes with me, he’s here today! So I want him to see mommy’s world and to understand what she does,” she added. It’s clear that Tyra is shaping York into a well-rounded individual who appreciates the value of hard work.
