George and Amal Clooney officially expanded their family of four when their adorable twins, Ella and Alexander, were born in June 2017. Once the twins hit the toddler stage, George humorously shared that his kids somehow skipped the notorious "terrible twos." Speaking on Today in May 2019, George shared, “They’re good kids. They’re happy kids. They laugh a lot.” He even mentioned how his little ones already have a knack for pranks. “They’ll put peanut butter on their shoes, so it looks like poop, and they think that’s hilarious,” he chuckled.
According to George, Ella and Alexander each have their own distinct personalities. Despite being twins, the Batman and Robin star revealed they couldn’t be more different. “They’re really fun and smart,” George said proudly. “They already know all their ABCs in Italian and English, and I can’t even do that in English!” George joked, showing just how proud he is of his multilingual children.
Of course, there are parts of fatherhood that still surprise him. “I just have to clean the barf off of my tux,” George hilariously remarked. “It used to be my barf, but now it’s the twins’ barf.” It seems even Hollywood royalty isn’t immune to the joys of parenthood!

Ella Clooney: The Elegant Twin
Born on June 6, 2017, Ella is the daughter of George and Amal Clooney. When the twins arrived, Amal’s spokesperson shared the joyful news: “This morning, Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander, and Amal are all healthy, happy, and doing fine.”
George and Amal are famously private about their children, keeping them largely out of the spotlight. However, George did reveal a glimpse of Ella’s personality, noting she takes after her mother. “She’s very elegant, and all eyes,” George gushed to Entertainment Tonight. “She looks like Amal, thank God.”
In December 2023, George revealed what his kids think he does for a living. “They think that all I do is play in the water,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I did a movie a couple of years ago called Midnight Sky. I had to shoot stuff in a tank, and they came to visit. I was in clothes but in a tank, and they just assume that I swim.” He added, “So whenever I say I go to work, they think I’m swimming.”
Alexander Clooney: The Confident Twin
Alexander, born alongside his sister Ella on June 6, 2017, has a personality that’s as bold as his parents’ star power. While George describes Ella as sweet, he jokingly calls Alexander the confident one. “He’s a thug already,” George laughed to ET. “He’s a moose! Literally, he just sits and he eats.”
Though George and Amal rarely put their kids in the spotlight, the family made a rare appearance together in August 2021. They were spotted arriving at a luxurious restaurant in Lake Como, Italy, where they enjoyed some quality time together. The family of four looked happier than ever, proving that even A-list celebrities know the importance of family bonding.
George credits Amal for making fatherhood feel natural. “Amal is like an Olympic athlete when it comes to parenting,” he said. “She does everything so beautifully.” Speaking with GQ for his 2020 Icon of the Year profile, George admitted he didn’t realize how empty his life was until Amal came into it. “I was like, ‘I’m never getting married. I’m not gonna have kids. I’m gonna work, I’ve got great friends, my life is full, I’m doing well,’” he recalled. But meeting Amal changed everything. “I was like, ‘Oh, actually, this has been a huge empty space,’” he revealed.

George says those feelings intensified tenfold when Ella and Alexander were born. “I’d never been in the position where someone else’s life was infinitely more important to me than my own,” he gushed. “And then tack on two more individuals, who are small and have to be fed.” Luckily for George, fatherhood seems to come just as naturally as his acting career!
