Figure skater Scott Hamilton, an Olympic legend, has been on an inspiring journey alongside his loving family. The proud dad of four—Jean Paul, Aidan, Evelyne, and Maxx—shares his heartwarming life with his wife, Tracie Hamilton (formerly Robinson). Their family story is one of resilience, love, and adventure.
Scott Hamilton's Journey to Parenthood
Scott and Tracie tied the knot in 2002, after a year of engagement. Their union came after Scott faced one of the toughest battles of his life: overcoming testicular cancer. Diagnosed in 1997, Scott underwent chemotherapy and surgery, proving that his determination wasn't just for the ice. After they said "I do," the couple welcomed two biological sons, Aidan and Maxx, into their lives. These boys have been a source of joy, laughter, and love for the Hamilton family.
In 2010, Scott and Tracie's lives took a dramatic turn when they learned about the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti. As they prepared to offer aid, they stumbled upon photos of a little boy named Jean Paul living in an orphanage. They soon discovered he had a younger sister, Evelyne. The couple fell in love with these children and embarked on a two-year journey to bring them home. By November 2014, Jean Paul and Evelyne were officially part of the Hamilton family.

Scott opened up to Today about the adoption process: “We fell in love with these kids two years ago, and it took us that long to bring them home.” Tracie echoed those sentiments, sharing, “It’s been such a blessing and it’s been everything we expected it would be. Having a girl has been amazing—Evelyne brings so much joy to our lives. It’s been challenging at times, but overall, it’s been beautiful.”
The Hamilton Kids: Talents and Passions
Scott shared with People in November 2015 that each of his children has unique interests and talents. “Jean Paul is an incredible soccer player. He’s crazy good, and now Aidan’s caught the bug too. He’s even on the school team,” Scott said with pride. Meanwhile, Maxx has taken a liking to skating, though he dreams of playing tackle football. “We’re like, ‘Well, you’re only 7. You can wait a little longer,’” Scott joked.

Scott Hamilton Faces Another Health Challenge
For over two decades, Scott has battled brain tumors, diagnosed in 2004, 2010, and again in August 2016. He underwent surgery twice in the past, but this time around, the retired athlete decided to approach his treatment differently. “When they gave me the diagnosis, they said, it’s back,” Scott told People in February 2024. “This time, they brought in a young, talented surgeon who suggested we could do the surgery again. But it would be complicated, and while we have a great team, I wasn’t sure if that was the right path for me.”
Instead, Scott, who founded Scott Hamilton CARES, is considering targeted radiation therapy. “The ace I have up my sleeve is this targeted radiation therapy that can shrink the tumor. It means I can avoid surgery and chemo, which is a huge relief. Right now, I’m just trying to stay present, take in all the information, and make the best decision when the time comes,” he explained.
