You know, when you think about Drew Barrymore, her story is nothing short of extraordinary. The actress, who once partied like there was no tomorrow in the '80s, now finds herself wrapped up in the joy of family life. These days, she’s more inclined to snuggle with her two daughters, Olive, who's 5, and Frankie, 3, than hitting the dance floor at Studio 54. "Back in the day, I was never home," Drew, now 42, reminisced in a recent interview with In Style magazine. "It's funny now because you’d practically need a crowbar, a spatula, and a forklift to get me out of the house!"
A Childhood Anything But Ordinary
Let’s rewind to the early years of Drew Barrymore. Her childhood wasn’t exactly what you’d call conventional. At just 11 months old, she landed her first acting gig in a dog food commercial. Her big-screen debut came in 1980’s Altered States, but it was her role as Gertie in 1982’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial that catapulted her to mega-stardom at the tender age of seven. However, her family life was fraught with challenges. Drew had strained relationships with her parents, John and Jaid Barrymore, and by the age of 14, she was legally emancipated from her family. These experiences shaped her into the resilient and successful woman she is today.

A Career and a Life in Balance
Reflecting on her journey, Drew opened up to In Style, saying, "From a young age, I was overly passionate. I thought everything revolved around my professional life because, back then, that's all I had. I didn't have a traditional family. I’ve been working as long as I can remember." Now, Drew continues to shine in her acting career while successfully running her production company, Flower Films, her cosmetics brand, Flower Beauty, and her new Amazon Fashion line, “Dear Drew.”
The Joys of Motherhood
For Drew, nothing compares to the joy of being a mom to her two girls, Olive and Frankie, whom she shares with her ex-husband Will Kopelman. "They stop the entire world and make it stand still. They are the love I’ve always longed to know," she gushes about her children. It's clear that motherhood has brought a new depth of love and fulfillment to her life.
