Eugenie, the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, also revealed that her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, was one of the first to hear about the engagement. “Granny actually knew right at the start. We spent a lovely weekend with her, and she was thrilled. So were my grandfather and the rest of our family,” Eugenie said with a smile. “We only told our immediate family—our moms, dads, siblings, and grandparents. Keeping it close to home felt right.”

The couple also shared how they first met. Eugenie described their meeting as “love at first sight.” It happened during a ski trip in Switzerland back in 2010, when they were introduced by a mutual friend. “We met when I was 20 and he was 24, and it was instant chemistry. Eugenie’s ring features a pink-orange padparadscha sapphire surrounded by diamonds, while her mother’s has a pink Burma ruby surrounded by diamonds. During their BBC interview, the couple shared more about the ring’s design.

“I found a ring that inspired me, and I proposed without it. Then we worked together to design the diamonds around the padparadscha sapphire. I wanted Eugenie to sign off on it because it’s all about her,” Jack explained. “The coolest part is how the sapphire changes color depending on the angle you look at it. It’s just like Eugenie—she’s always changing and amazing.” Eugenie added, “It feels surreal to wear it, but it’s beautiful.”

Now that the engagement is official, Eugenie and Jack are diving into wedding planning.
